Neutron star recoils

E.M. Henley and S. Reddy (Los Alamos)

The INT Program on neutron stars got me interested in the problem of the experimentally found neutron star "recoil" velocities. The source of this "kick" to the stars remains to be ascertained, although several suggestions have been advanced. I have proposed one other possible source involving polarized neutrons and am examining it.
