My main research interest is the application of quantum many-particle theory to physical systems,
including nuclei, atomic clusters, and condensed matter. Particular areas of recent research are
electronic excitations in molecules and condensed matter and nuclear structure and reactions.
My current focus is to develop a new theory of nuclear fission.

My CV has more than 390 scientific publications with 29,000 citations giving them a rank
of over 90 on the Hirsch index. The work has been recognized by the American Physical Society,
which awarded me the Bonner Prize in 2004 for my "many varied contributions to nuclear
structure and reaction theory, which have guided and illuminated experiments
for four decades."
