The likelihood of DCC formation.
To study the dynamics of DCC formation, one has to solve an equation of motion, the simplest model for the description of soft pions being the linear sigma model. The choice of the initial conditions is then crucial for the occurence of the DCC. In the litterature, "ad hoc" initial conditions are often chosen to emphasize the importance of a given observable. Within the commonly used framework of mean field dynamics and of initial local equilibrium we sample the initial conditions and then evaluate the probability that a DCC instability occurs [1].
