Home Institution: University of North Carolina, Wilmington
Research Project: Chiral photocurrent in carbon nanotubes and graphene Principle
UW Mentor(s): David Cobden

Q: What are your physics/science interests?
A: My REU project is mostly experimental condensed matter physics, but I also like complexity, nonlinear dynamics and chaos, nonlinear PDEs, mathematical biology, and biologically-inspired computing.

Q: What are your other interests?
A: I like reading, video games, programming, and (more recently) sailing.

Q: What would you like to do after college?
A: I want to go to graduate school for math or physics.

Q: Tell us one strange but interesting fact about yourself.
A: I skipped 4th grade entirely.

Q: What first sparked your interest in Physics?
A: Nothing in particular, although I've always liked math. Physics and math were just the subjects I was best at in school, so I stuck with them and they grew on me.

Q: If you could have any pet what would it be?
A: I've always wanted to try riding an ostrich.

Q: If you had a free month and unlimited funds, how would you spend your time?
A: Eating in various exotic locales.

Q: If you could get a grant to study anything what would it be?
A: Ants or termites.
