JOE'S REU WONDERLAND

Michael Faraday, my physics hero.

In the UW 1997 REU program in physics, amongst other things, I worked with the Be7 group at the Nuclear Physics Laboratory. The purpose of this experiment is to measure the cross section of the 7Be+p -> 8B + gamma reaction. This cross section is related to the production of high energy neutrinos in the sun, and thus, an accurate measurment of it may provide an understanding of the solar neutrino deficit. The solar neutrino deficit is the missing flux of 8B neutrinos one would expect to exist by the predictions of the standard model.

Currently, I can be found living my charmed life in either Upper Darby, PA or at Villanova University in Villanova, PA in the heart of the Main Line. I am a senior physics major at 'Nova and plan to go to grad school for gravitational physics, astrophysics, or physical oceanography. When I have free time I like to do camping, hiking, fishing, trivia collecting (spermology, to be exact), and participate in the local (Philly) music and literature scene.
