  • INT Workshop on Non-Equilibrium Quark-Gluon Plasma

    September 25 – 29, 2006

Quark-gluon plasma produced at the early stage of relativistic heavy-ion collisions is initially in a non-equilibrium state but afterwards it evolves towards equilibrium. Recent RHIC data suggest that the plasma is thermalized within 1 fm/c, and several explanations of this surprisingly short time are under consideration. Mechanisms which drive the quark-gluon plasma towards equilibrium are the main foci of the one-week workshop. However, a broader spectrum of quark-gluon-plasma studies will also be addressed. Specific topics include: - experimental estimates of the equilibration time - mechanisms of equilibration and their theoretical frameworks - quasi-particle spectrum of the non-equilibrium quark-gluon plasma - instabilities in the non-equilibrium quark-gluon plasma - transport coefficients of the quark-gluon plasma - phenomenology of relativistic heavy-ion collisions

This one-week topical workshop starts off the 10-week Program INT-06-03 "From RHIC to LHC: Achievements and Opportunities", organized by Yuri Kovchegov, Ulrich Heinz, Jamal Jalilian-Marian, and Larry McLerran.

All workshop participants must pay a registration fee of $50. Please send a $50 check (payable in US dollars, and drawn on a US bank) to "University of Washington" at the address below, OR plan to pay by cash or check immediately upon arrival at the INT. We are unable to accept credit cards; exact change is appreciated.

There will be an optional buffet dinner at Ivar's Salmon House on Wednesday, September 27. The cost is $45 per person. Please note that you MUST notify Nancy Tate that you wish to attend the dinner NO LATER THAN SEPTEMBER 22, 2006. If we do not receive confirmation notification from you before that date, we will assume that you DO NOT plan to attend, and cannot guarantee that you can be added to the headcount later. We appreciate your cooperation.

Guests are welcome to attend the dinner for an additional $45 per person. If you wish to bring a guest, you must notify Nancy Tate by September 22, 2006.

Please plan to pay the fee (and dinner cost, if attending) upon arrival at the INT. Or, you may mail payment to:
