INT Workshop INT-19-73W
Weak Elastic Scattering with Nuclei
March 4 - 8, 2019
Highlights
Weak elastic scattering of leptons from nuclei is a powerful channel to expose important nuclear matter properties and to study fundamental interactions providing a broad reach into several physics disciplines. This information is critical in constraining the structure of asymmetric nuclei and the neutron matter equation of state, which governs a host of processes involving both terrestrial nuclei and exotic astrophysical systems. This workshop brought together leaders in weak elastic nuclear scattering measurements, nuclear theory and structure, nuclear astrophysics, and beyond the standard model communities. In addition, complementary efforts to these measurements were also represented in the program.
An exciting program of recent results and upcoming programs were highlighted
as well as their implications on the frontier of nuclear structure and
interpreting neutron star observables. In addition there was deep discussion
on how these and other processes may be used to search for new physics beyond
the standard model. As one of the first workshops to bring several
communities together, there was a considerable amount of mutual interest and sharing
of ideas including the importance of constrained nuclear theory as well as
for promising next generation experiments.
