Information for Students

Participants - We are looking forward to a great summer school this year. We expect to have 50 students, and a list of confirmed participants will be available online.

Venue and housing - The 16th National Nuclear Physics Summer School will be held on the campus of the College of the Atlantic, Bar Harbor, Maine from June 13-25, 2004. Lectures will be held in the Gates Auditorium. Participants will be housed in the Blair/Tyson residential housing. The college is located within walking distance of downtown Bar Harbor.

Transportation Information - Participants should plan to arrive on Sunday, June 13, and depart on Friday, June 25. We regret that we will not be able to provide financial support for travel due to restrictions on funding for the summer school. We will not be able to reimburse you for taxis, rental cars, parking, airfare, or similar expenses.

Meals - Meals begin with dinner Sunday evening, June 13th and end with a continental breakfast, Saturday, June 19th.  Meals begin again with dinner Sunday, June 20th and will end with lunch Friday, June 25th.  Participants provide their own meals for Saturday lunch and dinner as well as Sunday breakfast and lunch.   With advance notice, the kitchen is able to offer vegetarian box lunches and entrees.  They are also able to accommodate many special diets with advance notification.

Schedule - A tentative program for the school will be available. The school takes place at the Gates Auditorium each day from June 14 to 25, 2004. There will also be a few social events.

Possible outings and activities - In addition to the regular academic and social activities of the school, there are many cultural and outdoor activities in Bar Harbor and the surrounding region during the summer. We will help coordinate some extracurricular activities if there is sufficient interest, e.g., a group hike in the Acadia National Park, or a boat ride for whale watching.
