Dining on Campus

You will be issued a campus food card when you arrive (even if you are staying in the College Inn for a bit first). The card is good for meals and snacks at various locations on campus.

The card will have "points" on it—each point is equal to $1.00. You will have about 15 points per program day (including weekends) for food expenses.

The main conference food facility is "8" at McMahon Hall. McMahon is quite close to Hansee. Your card will also work at on-campus locations such as the Husky Den in the Student Union Building ("HUB"), and the H-Bar in the Physics Building.

Food note to early arrivals: June 11-19 is a break for the UW, and most campus food locations will be closed or have reduced hours. Additionally, there is no cooking allowed in the College Inn. During that time, therefore, you will probably need some cash for meals out. Fortunately, University Way (the "Ave") is home to many restaurants that are priced with the average student's wallet in mind.

Food note to vegetarians, vegans, and those with other dietary restrictions: Your preferences will probably be accommodated on campus, but you may or may not find that particular location open at any given time. Advance meal planning will help you out here.

Also, Seattle is quite veg-friendly. Many (even most) local restaurants offer vegetarian and vegan entrees (lacto-ovo food is a lot easier to find). If you're having trouble finding appropriate places to eat, ask us--we can help!
