School: Lawrence University
REU Faculty Mentor: Norval Fortson
Q: What are your physics/science interests?
A: My physics interests are pretty widespread. I like Atomic and Laser
Physics. I also find Cosmology and Particle Physics very interesting.
Q: What are your other interests?
A: My other interests include playing softball (and most other sports),
reading, seeing movies, and laughing.
Q: What would you like to do after college?
A: After college I plan to attend graduate school. Since I've spent my
whole life in the Midwest, I am hoping to live somewhere else for a
while, perhaps on either coast. After graduate school, I'd like to go
into teaching at the undergraduate level and to continue doing research.
Q: Tell us one strange yet interesting fact about yourself?
A: For reasons unbeknownst to anyone on the Lawrence campus, my nickname is Kosta Rica, even though I'm not from there, have never visited there,
and don't really have any desire to go there. I got it from the
softball coach (I wish I knew why) and it stuck. But really, I prefer
Lauren.
