Q: What are your physics/science interests?
A: I guess my physics/science interests are ultimately in high energy theory, but that's weird to say because I don't really know any of it yet. It just seems like fun because it's got a lot of math (another of my big interests) and it has such far-ranging implications. Also, it's cool that no one knows what's out there say beyond the Standard Model, but they know that something new must be there at higher energy scales. I'm also interested in computer science, and I really enjoy programming.
Q: What are your other interests?
A: Outside of school, my biggest thing is sports. I play all sorts of
intramural sports for my dorm, and I run every day. As soon as I'm back
in Seattle where the weather's less heinous, I'll throw in some road
biking too. I'm also happy to watch pretty much any sports on TV, but
especially track and football... and I compulsively check espn.com about
every 6 minutes. I also like to play the (electric) guitar.
Q: What would you like to do after college?
I'm pretty sure I'm going to go to physics grad school after college. I
don't know if I want to work in academia--it seems like a pretty tough
environment to work in--but for now I'm sure I want to learn more physics, so grad school sounds like fun.
Q: Tell us one strange yet interesting fact about yourself?
A: Weird things about me: I have to wear shorts for good luck every time I take a test. That's sometimes sucked in the winter in Boston, but it's
better than jinxing myself :) Also, this is maybe not so weird, but I plan to go to Jamba Juice as often as is humanly possible this summer. I'm going to try to convince everyone how good it is, and why they should come with me.
