Housing: off campus and on

The College Inn: If you're coming before the official start of the program, you will be staying in the College Inn, one block from the Physics building. The College Inn was built in 1909 for the Alaska-Yukon Exposition. Your room will have its own sink, but a shared bathroom. Every morning, a free "continental breakfast" (bagels, pastries, etc) is served in the hotel common area.

Dorms: You'll be staying in a single room in the Leary wing of Hansee Hall. The hall has nice common areas where you can hang out and watch TV or whatever, and it also has kitchen facilities. There are a few basic pans and stuff in the kitchens, but if you are picky, you might want to bring your own favorites.

The room itself will have a fan in it, as well as a telephone. Sheets, blankets, towels, and pillows are provided (if you want to bring your own, that's fine, but it helps if you bring a color other than white so things don't get mixed up).

Anything else (lamp, alarm clock, iron, cd player, etc) you will need to bring. NO HALOGEN LAMPS are allowed. You don't need to bring your own computer unless you want to: there are computers here that you can use. If you want to bring your own laptop, however, Hansee has ethernet connections.

The hall is co-ed, with gender-segregated bathrooms on alternating floors (as in boys, girls, boys, etc). There are card-operated laundry facilities in the building (cards are available at the conference desk).

Desk hours: Throughout the summer there will be one conference desk open 24 hours on the north side of campus. Several other desks will be open from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm, although hours may vary with occupancy.

Lost keys: Guests will be asked to present photo identification to obtain a replacement room key if they lock themselves out of their rooms. Guests who lose their keys or who fail to return them at checkout are assessed a $45.00 (plus tax) charge to replace their room lock and key. In addition, the charge to replace an outdoor entry, bathroom, or mailbox key is $5.00 per key.

No-smoking policy: University residence halls and campus facilities offer a smoke-free environment. Smoking is prohibited in all public areas, including lounges, laundry rooms, food-service areas, sleeping and meeting rooms.

Noise and other problems: We chose Hansee Hall for you because we wanted you to be able to study. If noise or other problems are getting in your way, don't suffer in silence! Please tell someone.

No pets or other animals are allowed in the dorm rooms or common areas.

Please leave the landscaping the way you found it, so everyone can enjoy it: don't pick flowers or make other unauthorized modifications.

Please read and follow all dorm safety rules, including fire regulations.
